i helped my friend ryan come up with a logo for some fundraising his cousin has started to raise money for cancer care. ryan lost his dad to cancer a few years ago and his cousin took on this mission each year in his name. the merchandise came out pretty cool and i am really happy to get to help such a neat family doing a good thing. below is the email from ryan and links for donation/merchandise if you wish.
Hello my friends and associates,
A couple years ago, my cousin set up a program to raise money for the Gibson cancer wing of Maine Medical Center. This was the hospital that took care of my father when he battled cancer. My cousin, Patrick started this foundation (The Rockin’ Rod Foundation) in order to make contributions to the hospital that would allow patients and their families to be a little more comfortable while they were being cared for. Patrick’s plan was to combine his love for mountain climbing with fundraising to create 2006’s Climb For The Cure. Patrick raised nearly $8,000 for his efforts to climb Oregon’s Mt Hood. With this money he was able to buy a CD player for every bed in the hospital as well as provide care packages for family members who would be spending many nights at the hospital at their loved ones side.
For 2008 Patrick set out with a goal of climbing Mt Rainier in Washington and raising $10,000 to donate to the hospital. This year, the Climb For Cancer Care is using merchandise sales to improve the amount we donate to the Gibson Pavilion. With the climb just around the corner in July we need to make a solid push to meet the goal of $10,000. This is where you come in. I’ve attached a flier with the hats and shirts we have available for sale with 100% of the profits going to the hospital. If you are interested in buying anything that we are selling, please contact me soon as there are limited quantities available for now. More may be produced soon, but you’re better off to not wait. If you would like to make a contribution to the Climb but don’t want to look super good in these new hot styles, you can make a donation here. Any contribution of any kind is greatly appreciated, no matter the size.
Sorry for the mass email, but if it weren’t a cause that was close to my heart, I certainly wouldn’t have bothered you. Please pass this along to anyone that might be interested as I’m sure I missed some people’s addresses here. The more people that see this, the larger of a contribution we can make.
Thank you again.
