at first glance, this sounds amazing. glass window panes using dye solar cells (DSC) to convert direct and overcast sunlight into energy. these windows replace current windows and are cheaper to manufacture than silicon solar cells. this allows an architect to be very efficient with space and transforms the least energy efficient aspect of a building into an energy-generating system. uh…then you look at the window design. doesn’t look much different than putting a regular silicon panel on your window. they are developing different colors (grey, blue) but i was imagining an even tint of color, not strips like this. maybe someday. oh, btw, dyesol is the company.
